The Basics Podcast

Hi! We’re Dawn and Emily. Our mission is simple: help more people feel confident eating whole‑food, plant‑based—no perfection required, just practical steps that stick.

What it is The Basics? A friendly, bite‑size monthly podcast that teaches the fundamentals of plant‑based nutrition, with real‑life tips, simple meal ideas, and science you can trust.

Who we are?

  • Dawn is a plant‑based lifestyle educator, author, and certified plant‑based chef. She founded VegeCooking and built a licensing program for plant‑based entrepreneurs. Dawn also consults with companies to create corporate plant‑based wellness programs. She holds a Certificate in Plant‑Based Nutrition and a Certificate in Nutritional Therapy with a focus in epigenetics.

  • Emily is a NASM‑certified personal trainer with a Corrective Exercise specialization. Since 2019, she’s coached fitness and nutrition clients, helping people enjoy movement and eat foods that truly nourish their bodies. She’s also certified in Plant‑Based Nutrition through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies.

 

Why we’re doing it? Because the basics are powerful. When you understand the “why” and have practical “how‑tos,” you can build habits that support your health, energy, and joy—at home and at work. We want to help you along on your health journey. Because health is the ultimate form of wealth!
